A personalised owl baby wall hanging
Baby Molly and her family were moving into their new family home, when Anya got in touch to commission a piece for her nursery. Attached to the email was a photograph of an adorable baby wearing round, pink glasses and Anya wanted to have an owl made wearing the same spectacles to match her daughter.
I sent Anya an email with a collection of owl babies I already had in stock, which she could choose from, or tell me what she liked, or didn’t like about them, so I could make a new one to her specifications. I also made some glasses in different sizes and shades of pink. Anya chose the largest ones. We both agreed they were the cutest!
Jasmine is one of Anya’s favourite plants and smells, and she wanted to incorporate its likeness into her nursery wall hanging, so I set about making some flowers to match these special blooms.
Anya loved the idea of the wreath being absolutely festooned with flowers, to make a real statement piece for the nursery.
Molly’s dad, David, wanted ‘Molly’ to be cut out letters, hanging inside the wreath. He also thought it would be a nice idea to include Molly’s date of birth into the design. I suggested it could be collaged onto a leaf, and David asked for the numbers to be in the same soft pink of her glasses and name.
I had a play with placing everything together, so that Anya and David could choose a composition they liked. And once everything was finalised, I popped it in the post.
