Blue Tit on a leafy green wreath
This handmade bird sculpture is handmade from paper. He has a bright yellow belly with black and white markings, blue back and wing feathers with white markings, and the signature black framed face, with eye stripes and a tuft of blue on his noggin.
This piece hasn’t actually sold yet- it is on exhibition at The Hub, Sleaford. You can contact them directly, if you’d like to purchase it, or I can make one similar for you. Do get in touch if you’d like more information.
He is completely made by hand out of hand cut paper feathers and is one of a kind. He sits on a wreath of leafy green stems and green hydrangea blooms.
This piece measures 24 cm (9.5 inches) tall and 21 cm (8 inches) wide. The blue tit is 13 cm (5 inches) from tail to beak.
Hangs from the wall via invisible fishing line. There is a (copper coated) steel hook hanging at a drop of 30 cm (12 inches) from the top of the wreath, which will hang on a nail tack on the wall.
It is always so delightful to find a blue tit visiting the garden. They are such pretty creatures. They often band together with other species of tit or finch, finding safety in numbers while looking for worms among your grass. Blue tits are one of my favourites because they combine my favourite colours; blue and yellow.
Blue tits are the original milk thieves, known for piercing old bottle tops and making a nuisance of themselves for milkmen all over the country! They don’t crop up much in folklore, suggesting they used to stay hidden in the woods, away from human interaction. If they were stealing things in the old days, surely somebody would have written a story about a bird with such cheerful plumage!

I’m always happy to make new pieces to order, so do get in touch if you would like a different type of bird, or different flowers or foliage. I also make them standing, for on your mantelpiece. Please note that each bird has its own expression and unique pose, as well as unique patterns and colour palette, due to the making process, so no two ever look the same.

BESPOKE SCULPTURES, MADE BY HAND
Each paper sculpture is entirely handmade, from design to hand painted paper, to every hand cut feather or petal. Bird sculptures are given their own pose and expression. This ensures every piece is unique. If you own one of my sculptures, yours is the only one of its kind.
HANGING YOUR SCULPTURE
Each wall sculpture has a hand shaped copper coated steel hook, suspended on invisible fishing line, at a 30 cm drop from the top of the wreath. This hook will hang on a nail tack or picture hook on your wall. The sculptures are robust, but lightweight, so will only require one tack.
All tree stump standing sculptures are fitted with a cork base, to ensure the sculpture will not mark your furniture.
PACKAGING INFORMATION
Every sculpture is wrapped in tissue paper, in a cardboard box, adorned with paper ribbon. All packaging comes from recycled sources and can be recycled in your paper bin again, including any stickers or paper tape.
SHIPPING INFORMATION
Delivery to any UK address is free. Shipping to the US is £20, and orders to Europe is £25. If you cannot see your location at the checkout, please get in touch and I can set that up for you.
There may be taxes or other charges applicable when your parcel reaches your country, which you will be responsible for paying. Please get in touch if you would like me to investigate what charges may be applicable for you.
CARE INFORMATION
All sculptures are varnished with a UV protective lacquer, which keeps their colours bright and seals their edges. They are easy to care for; all they need is a tickle with a feather/microfibre duster every now and then. Wall sculptures hang on the wall via a copper coated steel hook, suspended by invisible fishing line at a drop of 30 cm from the top of the wreath.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
I aim to run as environmentally friendly a business as I can. All sculptures are made with recycled 300 GSM paper. Paints, lacquers and lustres are vegan. My sculptures are wrapped with entirely recyclable packaging, from the paper ribbon to tape. I use acrylic paints and plastic eyeballs and invisible fishing line to hang the wreaths, which I use sparingly to minimise waste.
