Crested Tit on a lavender Hydrangea Wreath

£95.00

This crested tit has a black and white crest, golden buff back, white belly and a black and white face. He is one of a kind, made with handprinted papers. I’ve added some metallic lustres when colouring the papers, so his feathers have a soft gentle sheen on his back and wings.

He perches on a wreath of lavender hydrangea blooms. Most of the blooms are in a cluster and they are varied shades of pale purples and blues.

This piece measures 24 cm (9.5 inches) tall and 21 cm (8 inches) wide. The crested tit is 10 cm (4 inches) from tail to beak.

Hangs on the wall via a steel hook, suspended on invisible fishing line.

Other birds and flowers/colours can be made for you, so do get in touch if you would like something in particular.

Crested tits are the only crested songbird found in Northern Europe. Scotland is their favourite place in the UK, where large populations of them thrive. They do not like to travel outside of forest areas, which is why they do not frequently make it down to the rest of the UK. They are particularly fond of old pine forests. Females only lay one or two eggs at a time, which are 1.6cm tall- how tiny is that?!

Hydrangeas are thought to symbolise gratitude, grace and beauty. Purple in particular represents understanding.

BESPOKE SCULPTURES, MADE BY HAND

Each paper sculpture is entirely handmade, from design to hand painted paper, to every hand cut feather or petal. Bird sculptures are given their own pose and expression. This ensures every piece is unique. If you own one of my sculptures, yours is the only one of its kind.

HANGING YOUR SCULPTURE

Each bird themed wall sculpture has a hand shaped copper coated steel hook, suspended on invisible fishing line, at a 30 cm drop from the top of the wreath. This hook will hang on a nail tack or picture hook on your wall. The sculptures are robust, but lightweight, so will only require one tack.

Small floral wreaths have no hanging hook, so that they can be hung on a nail or hook directly from their paper wrapped wire frame, in the direction of your choosing.

All tree stump standing sculptures are fitted with a cork base, to ensure the sculpture will not mark your furniture.

PACKAGING INFORMATION

Every sculpture is wrapped in tissue paper, in a cardboard box, adorned with paper ribbon. All packaging comes from recycled sources and can be recycled in your paper bin again, including any stickers or paper tape.

CARE INFORMATION

All sculptures are varnished with a UV protective lacquer, which keeps their colours bright and seals their edges. They are easy to care for; all they need is a tickle with a feather/microfibre duster every now and then. Wall sculptures hang on the wall via a copper coated steel hook, suspended by invisible fishing line at a drop of 30 cm from the top of the wreath.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

I aim to run as environmentally friendly a business as I can. All sculptures are made with recycled 300 GSM paper. Paints, lacquers and lustres are vegan. My sculptures are wrapped with entirely recyclable packaging, from the paper ribbon to tape. I use acrylic paints and plastic eyeballs and invisible fishing line to hang the wreaths, which I use sparingly to minimise waste.
